Dear friends, specially those with babies. Recently we saw a case of a mother who gave her 8 months old baby a spoon of honey ( the baby loved the flavor). The baby was later admitted with serious facial paralysis to the ICU and was put on a ventilator.
Do not give honey to any infant younger than 2 years of age. Honey can be a reservoir for "Clostridium botulinum". A bacteria that can produce several toxins in the body. Infants younger than 2 years of age would lack the normal flora and enough production of bile acids that would regularly inhibit the growth on this microorganism.
